Žiga Martinčič, specializant infektologije: Med epidemijo se je veliko govorilo o primerjavah z gripo. Če smo prejšnje epidemije gripe prestali brez dodatnih ukrepov, zakaj so zdaj potrebni vsi ti ukrepi!? Kot infektolog lahko rečem, da vsako epidemijo gripe vzamemo zelo resno, ker zelo obremeni zdravstveni sistem. Že takrat delamo na vrhu zmogljivosti, dobiti moramo dodatne kadre, dodatne prostore. Že to kaže, da je zdravstveni sistem zelo preobremenjen. Če pa primerjamo novi koronavirus z gripo 2019/2020, je bilo do sredine februarja zaradi gripe hospitaliziranih okoli 750 ljudi, v enotah intenzivne enote 45. Danes (23. oktobra) je že skoraj 400 ljudi v bolnišnici zaradi covida-19, na intenzivni enoti jih je več kot 60. Zavedati se moramo, da so te številke takšne kljub preventivnim ukrepom, med epidemijo gripe jih ni bilo. Tu se vidi razlika, da je koronavirus precej bolj nalezljiv in da v večjem deležu povzroča težjo bolezen, ki terja zdravljenje v bolnišnici ali celo v enoti intenzivne nege.
